About Us

Welcome Natives!

Introducing Trinidad & Tobago’s first stock image website where you can finally find LOCAL (Native) Images and media content. We are dedicated to finding and delivering content that reflect YOU and the Country that you call home. Whether you’re in advertising, video production, graphic design or any industry that needs quality LOCAL stock images and footage, you’ve found the right place!

NativeFoto files are royalty-free, which means you only have to pay once to use the file multiple times. We even offer a Guarantee that content used within the terms of the license agreement will not infringe on any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property right, or violate any right of privacy or publicity.

Another great thing about NativeFoto is that we’re dedicated to local content so we use local Photographers/Contributors to create our content. This means that our local Talent gets showcased and PAID! Every time someone purchases an Image the Contributing Artist gets PAID. If this sounds like a call out to Local Photographers to join us, well it is! To ensure that we receive quality images we provide guidelines in our Photographers/Contributors section that are helpful to both Amateur and Professional Photographers.

How was NativeFoto born ?

The story is quite straightforward. NativeFoto is founded by yours truly Derek Drayton. For over a decade I worked with one of the world’s largest multinational companies as a Senior Regional Manager and travelled to different parts of the globe. During this time it struck me at how challenging it was to effectively source local stock photography for commercial applications. Because of the lack of readily available local material companies often resort to purchasing inadequate images from international sites even when local photos with local settings and models are preferred. At the time I realised that there must be a better way, one where local (Native) Talent would benefit and the Client receives a superior service / product; so NativeFoto was born.

NativeFoto was launched in 2013, but, from a festering idea to conceptualization and delivery, it has been a progression that has endured over a few years. As with any project for which you hope to be successful, you need to find the right people with which to share your dream and then buckle up for the ride!  Along the way I found my first quirky travelling mate. Initially, I contracted my website design Project Lead, Mr Zaf Rahaman, after carefully researching the local T&T talent, but, quickly it became evident that his “in your face” enthusiasm and unique skill set, Certified Management Accountant (CIMA) and Website Designer with +10Years experience working in New York, could offer much to the long term development of NativeFoto. I invited Zaf to my small management team of two and now he is actively involved in helping shape the future for NativeFoto. My team-mate is a T&T national and now permanently resides in T&T. It is also worth mentioning that he is a past Lecturer in Management Accounting at a renowned Tertiary Level Institution in T&T.

Now anyone, anywhere can join us for free, find or contribute local digital media, and buy or sell original content of their own. NativeFoto is the creation of a showcase for local Image Stock and Media content that rewards Contributors and democratizes the industry.

What is Stock Photography?

You see hundreds of images on TV, in magazines, on packaging, posters, online, etc., but only a fraction of these images were photographed especially for that application. What you’re actually seeing is stock photography. Stock photos are ready-made images that are licensable for use in your advertising or promotional materials. NativeFoto’s images, and media content are just the beginning, they are the raw materials to get your graphic design started.
